Overview

Ben has extensive corporate advisory, restructuring and turnaround experience across Australia, Asia and South America.  His experience has been focussed on advising underperforming companies and financial stakeholders of distressed exposures, providing interim management services and distressed M&A.

Ben started his career with Ernst & Young’s corporate restructuring practice in Sydney and subsequently worked with KordaMentha in Sydney and Singapore. He also spent 18 months leading a successful turnaround assignment in Brazil.

  • Formal restructuring assignments in the mining sector including Caledon Coal Pty Ltd, Linc Energy Ltd, Cockatoo Coal Ltd and Bandanna Energy Ltd
  • Financial advisors to a major stakeholder seeking to implement a restructuring transaction for an international mining group under external administration
  • Voluntary administration of InterGen Energy Group which owns a 50% interest in the Callide C Power Station
  • Financial advisors to the Board of a publicly listed energy producer and explorer undergoing a complex financial and operational restructure
  • Advisory roles for lenders / lender syndicates, boards and management of a number of ASX listed and large privately owned companies undergoing complex restructures and/or turnarounds in the mining services and civil construction sectors 
  • Voluntary administration of the Homeart Group (formerly known as ‘Copperart’), one of Australia’s largest speciality retailers with a 120 store network
  • Advisors to government on Electrolux’s exit from Australia
  • Interim CFO responsible for the turnaround and restructure of the Brazilian operations of one of the world’s largest privately owned agri food (meat and dairy) traders
  • Various other confidential reviews, corporate advisory and formal restructuring assignments.
