Overview
Simon is a Director with PPB Advisory's Adealdie office. He has in excess of ten years’ experience in insolvency and corporate recovery. Having been with PPB Advisory since 1995, Simon has worked on all forms of insolvency administrations, in particular on large liquidations and sizeable litigation, as well as informal advice and forensics.
Simon is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and was adjudged the Candidate of the Module in South Australia for the Advanced Insolvency Module of the Professional Year Programme.
As well as being a Chartered Accountant, Simon has played a significant role in the development and maintenance of IT and IT Forensics within the firm and takes a particular interest in IT in general.
Specialist expertise
Much of Simon’s work has been on large liquidations and investigations, in particular the Emanuel matter and subsequent litigation, of which he was an integral member of the team assisting the Liquidator. In the areas of both corporate and personal insolvency, Simon has investigated complex company and trust structures in order to pursue matters for the benefit of creditors.
Simon has experience working with banks both locally and interstate through formal receiverships as well as working closely with secured creditors in large administrations.
Experience/recent transactions
Significant recent roles include:
- Emanuel Group – over 10 years' of investigating complex property transactions involving a group of 64 companies and numerous financiers, with extensive litigation arising from the investigations.
- Wilson’s Transport – significant report to generate a structured approach and subsequent administration to provide repayment to a key secured creditor and significant dividends to unsecured creditors.
- Bankrupt Estate of Andrew Garrett – complex and litigious matter involving detailed investigations and numerous court proceedings.
- Australian Motor Finance – receivership involving extensive investigations and forensic work and trading an automotive loan book.
Simon also heads the IT Forensics team in the Adelaide office and has assisted solicitors, barristers and other clients with the recovery and collation of electronic data. Assignments have also included multi-faceted interstate engagements.
