Overview
Simon has over 20 years’ experience working on both formal insolvency matters and informal independent reviews and restructuring engagements. During this time Simon has been involved in a diverse range of engagements including:
- independent business reviews on behalf of financiers, directors and investors
- risk management assessments of restructuring proposals
- monitoring of business performance
- day to day management of trading receiverships
- voluntary administration and liquidation appointment
- bankruptcy cases and personal schemes of arrangement.
Simon also has extensive experience of loan portfolio management having spent three years with National Australia Bank in the Strategic Business Services Group assisting with the restructure, turnaround or exit of customer relationships, where there had been a breach of financial and/or non-financial covenants.

Experience/recent transactions
Some of Simon’s recent major assignments include:
- trading receivership of Nylex Corporation Pty Ltd, an iconic Australian manufacturer, with a syndicated bank debt of c$65m and specifically the divestment of the consumer goods business
- leading an IA of a large retail pharmacist on behalf of a major lender with debt of c$40m
- the voluntary administration and liquidation of a leading IT wholesaler, which resulted in the sale of the business as a going concern and the investigation in various voidable transactions
- the receivership of APA Manufacturing Pty Ltd as the manufacturer and wholesaler of LPG tanks to automotive manufacturers and aftermarket customers.
Simon has also focused on providing risk management advice to directors, shareholders, employees and other stakeholders in respect of the impact of restructures and/or formal insolvency.
