Overview
Mark is a senior partner of PPB Advisory’s restructuring practice group. He has successfully managed large and complex turnaround and insolvency administrations, ranging down to discrete family company matters and high profile personal bankruptcies.
Mark is regularly appointed by major Australian trading banks and international finance institutions. He is the immediate past President of the Insolvency Practitioners’ Association of Australia (IPA) and a Board Member and Treasurer of INSOL International.
Specialist expertise
Mark has specialist expertise in formal corporate and personal insolvency, project management and work-out of distressed building sites, analysis, reconstruction and winding up of managed investment schemes, and the turnaround of independent schools.
Experience/recent transactions
Mark’s recent experience includes:
- tracing $123m of superannuation funds into off-shore hedge funds and recovering them with the assistance of Australian and foreign government authorities
- Shearwater The Mullumbimby Steiner School - by successfully negotiating and achieving the support of Australian state and Federal governments, banks, deed funders and the local community, Mark ensured that a large educational facility remained in business
- completion of construction and resolving union disputes for a 120 residential unit re-development of a historic site in Sydney’s inner-west
- completion of construction and the sale for record prices (during the GFC) of Australia’s premium residential development at Wolseley Road, Point Piper (average unit sale price AUD$8m+).

- As IPA President, delivered significant written and verbal submissions to the Australian Senate Economic References Committee's 2010 Inquiry into Liquidators and Administrators, and into the Australian Securities and Investments Commission's involvement pre and post business failure.
- As Liquidator of Trio Capital Limited, made a detailed written submission to, and appeared before, the Parliamentary Joint Committee on Corporations and Financial Services 2011 inquiry into the collapse of Trio Capital.
