Ian is a highly experienced advisor, specialising in crisis response and strategy. He is uniquely placed to provide independent leadership and coordinate responses for organisations facing major issues.
For over 30 years, he has been instrumental in turning around organisations in crisis and helped clients to protect their financial positions and reputations.
Recent examples include:
- receiver Burrup Fertilisers, Australia's largest fertiliser company
- leading the ANZ securities lending review on behalf of PPB Advisory
- advising MFS Living & Leisure on restructure and recapitalisation
- turnaround of global $6 billion paper industry business
- advisor to global property trust - $2 billion in assets.

While Ian’s career has exposed him to a large number of industries and issues, he has particular knowledge and experience in the following:

- property
- managed investment schemes.
His knowledge of Government means he understands how to deal with the bureaucracy and move things forward.
Experience/recent transactions
Ian represented the Australian Institute of Company Directors on the Voluntary Administration Law Reform Committee, of the Insolvency Practitioners Association of Australia and is a member the Federal Court Insolvency Users Group.
He is also currently a Board member and Victorian Managing Partner of advisory firm PPB. Previously he chaired PPB from 2000 to 2009. Ian founded Carson and McLellan prior to it merging with PPB in 2000
Ian has written numerous articles on governance, turnaround and insolvency and is sought as a speaker on these and related topics.
