Overview
David is a Partner with PPB Advisory heading up our New Zealand practice. He has over 15 years' experience in business regeneration, insolvency and investigation services.
During his career, he has completed:
- turnaround assignments and workouts for secured and unsecured lenders
- formal assignments (receiverships, voluntary administrations and liquidations)
- pre-lending reviews on behalf of both lenders and borrowers
- business diagnostic reviews and investigative accountant reports which focus on a company’s viability
- assessment of management ability and performance for shareholders and financiers.
Prior to joining PPB Advisory, David worked for both Deloitte and PricewaterhouseCoopers in New Zealand and Australia respectively.
Specialist expertise
David has worked on a variety of projects across a breadth of industries, including hospitality, automotive, footwear, manufacturing, forestry, mining, sport and leisure and the not-for-profit sector.
Experience/recent transactions
David has been involved in the following major assignments:
- turnaround of a group of restaurants and hotels (with secured debt of $50m+), including settling a significant shareholder dispute
- workout of a privately owned group of pubs and gaming venues, including overseeing the securing of entitlements worth $30m+ in the gaming auction process
- review of a supplier to the construction and mining industry on behalf of a banking syndicate with exposure in excess of $120m
- receivership of Western Metals – a zinc and lead mining operation in Western Australia
- receivership of Integrated Forest Products – a sawmilling operation based in Hume, ACT
- receivership of Scholz Motor Group – a luxury motor vehicle dealership based on the Gold Coast
- reviews of Tier 1 and 2 suppliers on behalf of major automotive manufacturers and financers
- review of indigenous communities in Western Australia on behalf of the Department of Employee and Workplace Relations.
