Overview
In 1992, after working for seven years in the insolvency division of Coopers & Lybrand, Andrew, together with Ian Carson, formed Carson & McLellan PPB. He has been a Registered Liquidator since 1992 and an Official Liquidator of the Supreme Court of Victoria since 1996.
Andrew has particular experience in the voluntary administration process and working with companies to trade out of financial difficulties. He works with secured lenders, directors, accountants and solicitors to explore every opportunity for either saving a company and its business, or maximising the return to creditors from a liquidation.
Andrew takes an innovative approach to finding the right solutions for distressed companies.
He created a precedent when the Supreme Court of Victoria appointed him as both receiver and manager and voluntary administrator to the same company. This enabled a large manufacturing firm to continue trading and be sold as a going concern.
He is also one of the few professional advisers to be appointed as both liquidator and voluntary administrator to the same company. This enabled a sizeable distribution to be made to the company's creditors, which would not have been possible with separate appointments.
Specialist expertise
In 2005, Andrew was appointed by the Federal Court to assist in reviewing and regularising 24 Management Investment Schemes (MISs), requiring him to work with the MIS operators, ASIC and Primelife Corporation Limited. This process took several years to complete and produced an outstanding result for all stakeholders.
Experience/recent transactions
In recent years, Andrew has been appointed Voluntary Administrator to a large transport company in Dandenong, a country timber mill, a mailing house, a professional services firm which was dissolved by a Court Order and a cosmetics manufacturer and wholesaler.
